Michael Limbert was born May 1969 in Niles, Michigan. During a 1990 sabbatical from Kalamazoo College, he began documenting life in Bloomington, IN using a second-hand Argus rangefinder. With the help of friends from Indiana University, Michael took to the school's photo labs in the off-hours and began developing and printing B&W in earnest.

(He graduated from Kalamazoo College in the spring of 1992 with a BA in English.)

After several years of riding the graphic design and art director trails in Kalamazoo, Chicago and Los Angeles, Michael entered the world of automotive advertising and photography for Leo Burnett shooting open-wheel race cars on the CART and IRL circuits in the US and Canada, as well as directing closed-set sessions.

In 2001 he published WAVE, a limited run book of independent photography from a year's worth of American travels.

Michael is currently assembling his next collection of personal images for publication.
